Location: East Sussex Salary: £93-£110 per day, depending on experience Contract: Full-time / Part-time / Supply Start: Immediate and ongoing opportunities
Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a role where you can make a genuine difference to pupils with complex needs?
Academics are working with a number of specialist schools across East Sussex supporting children and young people with PMLD, SLD, complex physical needs, communication difficulties and additional medical needs.
We are looking for caring, patient and resilient Teaching Assistants who are confident providing highly individualised support and are comfortable working within a specialist environment.
The role
Depending on the setting, you could be supporting pupils with:
Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) Autism and communication difficulties Complex physical needs Sensory processing needs Personal care requirements EHCP-led individual support Mobility and physical support Emotional and behavioural needsYou may work on a 1:1 basis, within a small group or as part of a specialist classroom team, helping pupils access learning and develop their communication, independence and life skills.
We're looking for someone who:
Has previous experience working with children or young people with complex SEN Is patient, compassionate and reliable Is comfortable supporting pupils with personal care where required Can build positive relationships with pupils and staff Understands that progress can look different for every child Is happy working as part of a multidisciplinary team Has a calm and nurturing approachPrevious school experience is desirable but not essential where you have relevant experience in care, support work, healthcare, residential settings or similar environments.
