SEN Teaching Assistant - Leatherhead & Esher, Surrey Long-Term, Permanent and Supply Positions Available | Immediate Start Location: Leatherhead & Esher, Surrey Salary: £110-£125 per day, dependent on experience
We are delighted to announce a number of exciting opportunities for experienced and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join a highly specialist school community across two sites in Leatherhead and Esher, Surrey. Positions are available on a permanent, long-term or regular supply basis and we are particularly keen to hear from candidates who genuinely understand specialist education and want to build a meaningful, ongoing relationship with a school where their consistency and commitment makes a real difference.
About the Role
You will support pupils aged 2-19 with severe learning difficulties, complex needs and autism, all of whom hold an EHCP or are currently under assessment, working as part of a dedicated classroom team and a fully integrated MDT including SLTs, OTs, Physiotherapists, Nursing Staff and a Music Therapist, with additional specialist input from Surrey's Physical and Sensory Support services.
Communication and literacy are a high priority across the school. You will support pupils to develop communication skills, build independence and access the wider community as part of a broad and balanced curriculum, using AAC and a range of specialist approaches tailored to each individual.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1, small group and whole class support to pupils aged 2-19 with severe learning difficulties, complex needs and autism
- Implement EHCPs and individual support plans alongside the class teacher and wider MDT
- Support pupils in developing communication, literacy, independence and life skills
- Use AAC and specialist communication approaches tailored to each pupil
- Support pupils' social, emotional and behavioural regulation
- Monitor and record pupil progress, feeding back to the class teacher and SENCO
- Support pupils with personal care and physical needs with dignity and sensitivity
- Follow safeguarding, health and safety and school-specific policies at all times
About You
- Previous SEN Teaching Assistant experience - essential
- Experience supporting pupils with severe learning difficulties, complex needs and/or autism - essential
- Understanding of AAC and communication-led approaches
- Experience with personal care and physical needs - desirable
- Calm, patient and consistent with a genuine passion for specialist education
- Reliable and committed, particularly important for candidates joining the school's regular supply bank
- Level 2 or Level 3 TA qualification preferred but not essential
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of all pupils
