SEN Teaching Assistant - Temp to Perm
Location: Hambridge, Somerset Salary: £14.25 - £16.68 per hour Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30am - 3:30pm Contract: Temporary to Permanent Start Date: ASAP
SEN Teaching Assistant Required
Prospero Teaching is working in partnership with a specialist education setting in the Somerset area to recruit a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs and is looking for a rewarding role with the potential to become permanent.
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who may have a range of needs including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and associated learning difficulties. You will play a key role in helping students access education, develop confidence, and achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally.
The Role
Supporting students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups. Promoting engagement and positive behaviour within the classroom. Assisting teachers in delivering tailored learning activities. Building positive relationships with students, staff, and parents. Encouraging independence, confidence, and social development. Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and communication needs.
The Ideal Candidate
Experience working with children or young people with SEN is desirable. A calm, patient, and resilient approach. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to build positive relationships and maintain professional boundaries. Backgrounds in education, care, youth work, support work, coaching, or similar sectors are welcomed. A genuine passion for helping young people succeed.
