A welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Wandsworth Town is seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join its supportive team on a full-time basis from September or October 2026.
The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will work within the school's dedicated SEN base, providing support to pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 with a range of additional needs. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SEN professional who is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.
The Role - SEN Teaching Assistant
The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will:
- Work within the school's dedicated SEN base.
- Support pupils across KS1 and KS2 with a variety of special educational needs.
- Provide targeted 1:1 and small-group support.
- Help pupils access learning and participate fully in school life.
- Support children with their academic, social, emotional and behavioural development.
- Deliver interventions and activities tailored to individual pupil needs.
- Work closely with class teachers, SEN staff and other professionals.
- Help develop pupils' confidence, independence and learning skills.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
- Promote a calm, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
The Ideal SEN Teaching Assistant
The school is looking for an SEN Teaching Assistant who:
- Has previous experience supporting children with special educational needs.
- Has experience working within a primary school or similar educational setting.
- Is confident supporting children across KS1 and KS2.
- Has a patient, nurturing and empathetic approach.
- Is able to adapt their approach to meet a range of individual needs.
- Has strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Is confident working both independently and as part of a wider team.
- Is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning.
- Can remain calm and consistent when supporting children with complex or challenging needs.
- Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of all pupils.
SEN Teaching Assistant - Wandsworth Town
This SEN Teaching Assistant position offers the opportunity to become an integral part of a dedicated SEN team within a mainstream primary school. The successful candidate will gain valuable experience supporting pupils with a variety of additional needs across both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
