Teaching Assistant – Haywards Heath
Start Date: ASAP Contract Type: Full-Time | Long-Term Working Pattern: 36 hours per week | Term Time Only Pay Rate: £85 – £105 per day, depending on experience
About the Role
Supply Desk is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a specialist educational setting in the Haywards Heath area.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with SEND, SEMH and additional learning needs and wants to play an important role in helping pupils feel safe, confident and ready to learn.
You’ll work closely with teaching staff to provide individual and small-group support, helping pupils engage with their learning while also supporting their social, emotional and behavioural development.
Key Responsibilities
Support teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons
Work with individual pupils and small groups to support learning and development
Provide support for pupils with SEMH and additional learning needs
Help implement positive behaviour strategies
Build trusting and positive relationships with pupils
Create a calm, structured and supportive learning environment
Support pupils to develop confidence, independence and resilience
Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
Adapt activities and resources to meet individual needs
Work as part of a supportive wider education team
The Ideal Candidate
Previous experience working with children or young people
Experience within a school, specialist or support setting is desirable
An understanding of SEND, SEMH or additional learning needs
Patient, calm and resilient when supporting challenging situations
Able to build positive relationships with pupils
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Positive, proactive and committed to helping children succeed
A genuine passion for supporting children's learning and wellbeing
