A fantastic opportunity has become available for a SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in Welwyn Garden City from October.
This SEN Teaching Assistant position in Welwyn Garden City offers invaluable experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder , speech and language needs, and other additional learning requirements. You will play a vital role in helping students overcome barriers to learning while supporting their confidence, independence, wellbeing, and academic development.
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide classroom-based support alongside tailored one-to-one interventions. You will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and wider school staff to create a positive, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide targeted in-class and one-to-one support for pupils with SEN and ASD Assist teachers with engaging lessons and differentiated learning resources Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils Support pupils' social, emotional, and academic development Encourage confidence, independence, and engagement in learning Support behaviour management strategies and personalised learning plans Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and wider school staffCandidate Requirements
Previous experience working with children or within an SEN setting is advantageous Genuine interest in Special Educational Needs and child development Understanding of ASD and speech and language needs is desirable Patient, empathetic, and resilient approach Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Reliable, proactive, and adaptable attitude Passion for making a positive difference in young people's lives Ability to commute to Welwyn Garden CityWhy Join This School?
