SEND Key Worker

Sen/Semh Key Worker

Make a difference. Build trust. Change a young person's day. Location: Bristol & North Somerset (BS3, BS7, BS8, BS9, BS10, BS11 and BS26) Salary: £23,400 per annum Hours: Monday–Friday, 9am–3pm (30 hours per week) Contract: Full-time, permanent (3-month probation) Working pattern: Term time only, with salary paid throughout the year, including school holidays. Are you someone who can make a real difference in a young person's life? Not every young person thrives in a traditional classroom. Some need a different approach, a smaller learning environment and, most importantly, someone who believes in them. We're working in partnership with a leading Alternative Learning Provision in Bristol and North Somerset to recruit caring, enthusiastic and resilient 1:1 SEN/SEMH Key Workers. This is an opportunity to build a meaningful relationship with a young person, support their education and help them develop confidence, independence and a more positive relationship with learning. What will you be doing? As a 1:1 Key Worker, you'll become a consistent and trusted adult in a young person's life. Your responsibilities will include: * Providing individual support to a young person with special educational needs and social, emotional and mental health needs. * Supporting learning, educational activities and daily routines. * Building positive relationships through patience, empathy and consistency. * Helping young people manage challenges and make positive choices. * Encouraging confidence, independence and personal development. * Taking part in practical, outdoor and recreational activities, including sports, cycling and educational trips. * Collecting your student from home and dropping them back at the end of the day using your own vehicle. * Following safeguarding and child protection procedures. No two days will necessarily look the same. One day you could be supporting maths or English; the next, enjoying an outdoor activity, playing football or helping a young person develop practical skills. What makes this opportunity different? You'll be working in smaller, specialist learning environments rather than a traditional large school setting. Our partner provides a range of personalised learning environments, including:

• Homely, supportive learning centres.
• Outdoor and adventure-based education.
• Sports and activity-focused learning.
• Practical construction and vocational training.
• Mechanics, hospitality and life-skills programmes. The focus is on helping young people re-engage with learning in an environment where they feel understood, supported and valued. Who are we looking for? We're looking for someone who is:
• Patient, caring and empathetic.
• Confident building relationships with young people.
• Calm, positive and resilient when situations become challenging.
• Adaptable and willing to get involved in different activities.
• Approachable, with a good sense of humour and the ability to build rapport.
• Passionate about helping young people achieve their potential. Essential requirements:
• Full UK driving licence.
• Access to your own car, which you can use for work.
• The ability to transport your allocated student to and from their learning provision.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Good English language skills. Desirable (but not essential):
• Experience working with children or young people.
• Experience supporting individuals with SEN/SEMH needs.
• Basic knowledge of safeguarding and child protection. Don't worry if you haven't worked in an alternative provision before. Full safeguarding training will be provided. What's in it for you?
• £23,400 annual salary.
• 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
• Term-time working, with pay spread across the full year, including school holidays.
• Permanent employment with our client.
• Company pension.
• Private medical insurance.
• Employee discounts and discounted or free food.
• Referral programme.
• Company events.
• Casual dress.
• Full safeguarding training. Why apply? This isn't just another job. It's an opportunity to become an important part of a young person's journey. You'll see the small victories, celebrate the big achievements and help young people discover what they're capable of. If you're someone who can bring patience, positivity, humour and consistency to a young person's life, we'd love to hear from you. Please also confirm: 1. Do you have access to your own car? 2. Can you provide three dates when you're available for an interview? This is an ongoing vacancy, so there is no closing date. Applications are welcome throughout the year. Safeguarding is a priority. The successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check and provide satisfactory references. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and are committed to equal opportunities. Recruiting in partnership with Team Educate
