Senior 3D Animator - Character

About the Role

Our client, a critically acclaimed studio celebrated for its compelling character-driven experiences, is seeking a highly skilled Senior 3D Animator specializing in characters to join their award-winning team in Leeds . This role is essential for bringing our diverse cast of characters to life with personality, emotion, and believable movement. You will be responsible for setting the standard for animation quality, collaborating closely with character modelers, riggers, and art directors to ensure that every character performs with impact and contributes meaningfully to the game's narrative and overall player engagement. Your expertise will be key in defining the player's connection with the game world.

Key Responsibilities

• Animate high-quality character performances, including walk cycles, combat actions , facial expressions, and emotional moments.
• Work closely with riggers to ensure character rigs are animator-friendly and support expressive performances.
• Collaborate with the game design team to implement animations that support gameplay mechanics and player experience.
• Provide technical and artistic feedback to other animators, helping to maintain and elevate the animation quality across the project.
• Utilize animation software (e.g., Maya, MotionBuilder) to create keyframed animations and potentially work with motion capture data.
• Ensure animations are optimized for real-time engine performance, meeting technical constraints and performance budgets .

Requirements

• Minimum of 6 years of professional experience as a 3D Character Animator in the games industry.
• Demonstrated expertise in animating realistic and stylized characters across various genres.
• Proficiency in industry-standard 3D animation software such as Autodesk Maya.
• Strong understanding of animation principles, including timing, spacing, weight, and appeal.
• Experience with motion capture cleanup and editing is a significant advantage.
• A compelling portfolio showcasing a wide range of high-quality character animation examples.
