Senior Accountant - Financial Services

About the Role

Our client is seeking a meticulous and experienced Senior Accountant to join their finance department in Reading . This role is integral to maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial records within the financial services industry . You will be responsible for preparing financial statements, managing general ledger functions, and supporting the financial controller with complex accounting tasks and regulatory reporting. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of accounting principles, experience with financial services reporting standards, and a keen eye for detail, contributing to the financial health of the organisation in Berkshire .

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards (e.g., IFRS, UK GAAP).
• Manage the general ledger, ensuring accuracy of postings and reconciliations.
• Assist in the preparation of regulatory financial returns and disclosures.
• Support the budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Collaborate with internal and external auditors during financial audits.

Requirements

• Qualified or nearing qualification ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent.
• Proven experience as a Senior Accountant, preferably within the financial services sector .
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
• Familiarity with regulatory reporting requirements for UK financial institutions .
• Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
