Senior Accountant

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join their finance team in Aberdeen . This pivotal role involves managing core accounting functions, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, and contributing to strategic financial planning. You will play a key part in month-end and year-end close processes, providing insightful analysis to support business decisions. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and execute all aspects of the general ledger , accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions.
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with relevant accounting standards.
• Reconcile bank statements, balance sheet accounts, and investigate discrepancies promptly.
• Assist with budget preparation, forecasting, and variance analysis, providing commentary on financial performance.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and providing necessary documentation.
• Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure data integrity.

Requirements

• Recognized professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in financial accounting roles.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, SAP) and advanced Excel skills.
• Strong understanding of UK GAAP or IFRS regulations.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
