Senior Accountant

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join their fully remote finance team, supporting operations primarily in Southampton . This key role involves overseeing the day-to-day accounting functions, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements. You will play an integral part in managing financial records, optimising accounting processes, and providing vital support to the finance department, all within a flexible and autonomous remote working environment. This position is perfect for an experienced accountant who thrives on accuracy and efficiency from the comfort of their own home.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with UK GAAP or IFRS.
• Oversee the general ledger function, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all accounting entries.
• Reconcile bank statements, balance sheet accounts, and intercompany accounts regularly.
• Assist in the preparation of statutory accounts and support external audits.
• Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to improve internal controls and operational efficiency.
• Provide financial analysis and insights to management to aid in strategic decision-making.

Requirements

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
• A minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience in accounting roles.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, UK GAAP, and financial reporting standards.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, SAP) and advanced Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fully remote setting, managing tasks and deadlines effectively.
