Senior Aerodynamics Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Aerodynamics Engineer to join their innovative team in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire . This role involves optimizing aircraft performance through advanced aerodynamic analysis and design. You will lead projects focused on conceptualizing, simulating, and refining aerodynamic designs to enhance efficiency, stability, and control. This hybrid position allows for a blend of focused work at home and collaborative sessions in the office, contributing to the cutting-edge development of aerodynamic solutions. You will work with state-of-the-art tools and methodologies, making a significant impact on the flight characteristics and performance of future aircraft.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct complex aerodynamic analyses using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) tools.
• Design and optimize aircraft configurations, wings, and control surfaces for improved performance.
• Develop and validate aerodynamic models through wind tunnel testing and flight data analysis.
• Collaborate with structural and systems engineers to ensure aerodynamic designs are integrated effectively.
• Lead aerodynamic design efforts for new aircraft projects and modifications.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the advancement of aerodynamic methodologies within the team.

Requirements

• Master's or PhD in Aerospace Engineering or a related field, with a specialization in aerodynamics.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in aircraft aerodynamics design and analysis.
• Expertise in using CFD software (e.g., ANSYS Fluent, Star-CCM+) and wind tunnel testing techniques.
• Strong understanding of fluid dynamics, compressible flow, and flight stability.
• Experience with aircraft performance optimization and mission analysis.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills for hybrid collaboration in Cambridge .
