Senior Agricultural Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Agricultural Engineer to lead innovative projects and provide technical expertise within the agricultural sector in Edinburgh and across Scotland. This role involves the design, development, and implementation of agricultural machinery, systems, and infrastructure to enhance efficiency, productivity, and sustainability on farms. You will work closely with research teams, manufacturers, and end-users to bring cutting-edge engineering solutions to the challenges faced by modern agriculture, playing a key role in the advancement of agricultural technology.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of new agricultural machinery, equipment, and automated systems.
• Oversee the testing, validation, and refinement of engineering prototypes and existing agricultural technologies.
• Provide expert technical guidance on the application of engineering principles to agricultural challenges, including irrigation, drainage, and soil conservation.
• Collaborate with manufacturing partners to ensure the quality and efficiency of agricultural equipment production.
• Analyze operational data to identify areas for engineering improvements and cost reductions.
• Manage engineering projects, including budgets, timelines, and resource allocation, ensuring successful project completion.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Agricultural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Extensive experience (7+ years) in agricultural engineering, with a strong portfolio of successful design and development projects.
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and simulation tools.
• Deep understanding of agricultural systems, farm operations, and relevant industry standards.
• Proven project management skills and the ability to lead technical teams.
