Senior Agronomist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and knowledgeable Senior Agronomist to lead their agronomic services and research initiatives within the dynamic agriculture and forestry sector . Based in Leeds , you will be at the forefront of developing and implementing advanced crop management strategies, providing expert advice to a diverse client base, and driving innovation in sustainable farming practices. This role is critical for ensuring optimal crop health, yield, and resource efficiency, and requires a deep understanding of soil science, plant physiology, and modern agricultural technologies. You will play a key role in mentoring junior agronomists and shaping the future direction of our client's agricultural consulting services.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical advice on crop nutrition, soil management, pest and disease control, and irrigation strategies to farmers and agricultural businesses.
• Conduct field trials and research studies to evaluate new crop varieties, fertilizers, pesticides, and cultivation techniques.
• Develop and implement comprehensive nutrient management plans and integrated pest management programs.
• Analyze soil and tissue samples to diagnose crop issues and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Stay current with the latest advancements in agronomy, agricultural technology, and regulatory changes.
• Train and mentor junior agronomists, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Agronomy, Soil Science, Crop Science, or a closely related agricultural discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in agronomy, with a strong track record in crop management and field research.
• In-depth knowledge of plant physiology, soil chemistry, and entomology.
• Experience with precision agriculture technologies and data-driven decision-making.
• Excellent analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication, presentation, and client-advisory abilities, suitable for client-facing interactions in Leeds and surrounding areas.
