About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Senior Agronomist to join their progressive team in Birmingham . This role is crucial in advising on best practices for crop cultivation, soil health, and pest management to enhance farm productivity and sustainability. You will be a key player in developing and implementing innovative agricultural strategies, working closely with farmers and land managers. This hybrid role offers the chance to blend field-based work with remote analysis, contributing to the advancement of agricultural science within a company that values expert knowledge and environmental stewardship.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert advice on soil analysis, crop nutrition, and fertilization programs tailored to specific farm needs.
- Develop and implement integrated pest and disease management strategies, emphasizing sustainable and organic methods where possible.
- Conduct field trials and research on new crop varieties, cultivation techniques, and agricultural technologies.
- Monitor crop health and growth, providing timely recommendations to farmers to optimize yield and quality.
- Educate farmers and agricultural professionals on best practices through workshops and site visits.
Requirements
- A degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Agriculture, or a related field.
- Significant experience (5+ years) in practical agronomy or agricultural consultancy.
- In-depth knowledge of plant physiology, soil science, and pest/disease control.
- Experience with precision agriculture technologies and data analysis is a strong asset.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients.
