Senior Agronomist

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Senior Agronomist to provide expert advice and technical support to the agricultural community in and around Newcastle upon Tyne . You will play a crucial role in enhancing crop yields, improving soil health, and promoting sustainable farming practices. This position involves regular site visits to farms, working closely with farmers and land managers to diagnose issues and implement effective solutions. You will be a key resource for cutting-edge agricultural knowledge, contributing to the prosperity and environmental stewardship of the region's farming operations and advancing the goals of the agriculture and forestry sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed soil analysis and crop health assessments on-site at various farms.
• Develop tailored crop nutrition and pest management plans based on scientific principles and site-specific conditions.
• Advise farmers on the latest advancements in agronomy, sustainable land management, and relevant forestry practices.
• Monitor crop development throughout the growing season, identifying and addressing any potential issues promptly.
• Educate clients on the benefits and implementation of new technologies and techniques in agriculture .
• Maintain accurate records of farm visits, recommendations, and outcomes, contributing to a central knowledge base.

Requirements

• A Master's degree or higher in Agronomy, Crop Science, Soil Science, or a closely related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in agronomy or agricultural consultancy.
• In-depth knowledge of crop physiology, soil science, pest and disease management, and nutrient management.
• Experience with GIS and remote sensing technologies for farm management is advantageous.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Full UK driving license and willingness to travel frequently within the designated region.
