Senior Analytical Chemist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Analytical Chemist to join their dynamic team based in Sunderland . This role is integral to ensuring the quality, safety, and efficacy of their diverse product portfolio through rigorous chemical analysis. You will be responsible for developing, validating, and implementing advanced analytical methods, contributing to critical research and development initiatives. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, validate, and implement robust analytical methods for raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products using techniques such as HPLC, GC, MS, and spectroscopy.
• Perform routine and non-routine analysis, troubleshoot analytical issues, and ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines.
• Characterize novel compounds and impurities, providing detailed reports on findings.
• Maintain and operate sophisticated analytical instrumentation, ensuring calibration and proper functioning.
• Collaborate with R&D and Quality Assurance teams to support product development and resolve manufacturing issues.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of analytical processes and methodologies within the department.

Requirements

• MSc or PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in an analytical chemistry role, preferably within the pharmaceutical or chemical industry.
• Extensive hands-on experience with various analytical techniques including HPLC , GC-MS , NMR, and UV-Vis spectroscopy.
• Proficiency in data analysis, interpretation, and reporting using relevant software.
• Strong understanding of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and relevant regulatory requirements.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a Sunderland -based laboratory.
