About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Analytical Chemist to join their Quality Control and Assurance department in Sunderland . This vital role involves the development, validation, and execution of analytical methods to ensure the quality and purity of pharmaceutical products. You will be responsible for operating and maintaining advanced analytical instrumentation, interpreting complex data, and contributing to regulatory submissions. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in analytical chemistry principles and a meticulous approach to ensure product safety and efficacy, working within a GMP-compliant laboratory environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, validate, and implement analytical methods for raw materials, intermediates, and finished products using techniques such as HPLC, GC, and MS.
- Perform routine testing according to established standard operating procedures (SOPs) and regulatory guidelines.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain a range of analytical instruments, including HPLC, GC-MS, FTIR, and UV-Vis spectrophotometers.
- Analyze and interpret analytical data, generate reports, and investigate out-of-specification (OOS) results.
- Contribute to regulatory filings by providing method validation data and technical expertise.
- Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and other relevant quality standards.
Requirements
- BSc or MSc in Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or a closely related scientific discipline.
- Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in pharmaceutical analytical development or quality control.
- Proficiency with chromatographic techniques (HPLC, GC) and mass spectrometry (MS).
- Experience with spectroscopic techniques (FTIR, UV-Vis) and wet chemistry methods.
- Strong understanding of GMP regulations and quality systems in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Excellent documentation skills and attention to detail.
