About the Role
Our client is actively seeking a skilled Senior Analytical Chemist to join their expanding quality control and research laboratory in Sunderland . This role is critical for ensuring the purity, quality, and consistency of chemical products through rigorous testing and method development. You will be responsible for operating and maintaining advanced analytical instrumentation, troubleshooting complex analytical challenges, and contributing to the optimization of analytical procedures. The ideal candidate will possess a meticulous approach, strong technical expertise, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of analytical science in a fast-paced industrial setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, validate, and implement analytical methods for the characterization of raw materials, intermediates, and finished products.
- Operate and maintain a range of analytical instrumentation, including HPLC, GC, MS, FTIR, and UV-Vis spectrophotometers.
- Perform routine and non-routine sample analysis, interpret results, and generate comprehensive analytical reports.
- Troubleshoot analytical instrumentation and methods, identifying root causes of deviations and implementing corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with relevant quality standards and regulatory guidelines (e.g., GMP, ISO).
- Mentor junior analytical chemists and provide technical guidance on analytical techniques and data interpretation.
Requirements
- M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in analytical method development and validation within an industrial setting.
- Extensive practical experience with various chromatographic (HPLC, GC) and spectroscopic techniques.
- Proficiency in data analysis software and LIMS systems.
- Strong understanding of quality control principles and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
