Senior Analytical Development Scientist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Analytical Development Scientist to join their dynamic pharmaceutical research and development team in Manchester . This role is critical for developing and validating robust analytical methods for new drug substances and products. You will be responsible for ensuring the quality and compliance of analytical testing throughout the product lifecycle. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in various analytical techniques and a deep understanding of regulatory requirements, playing a key role in bringing innovative medicines to patients from our Manchester facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, validate, and transfer analytical methods for the characterization and quality control of small molecules and biologics.
• Utilize a range of analytical techniques, including HPLC, GC, MS, spectroscopy (UV-Vis, IR, NMR), and dissolution testing.
• Troubleshoot and optimize existing analytical methods to improve sensitivity, specificity, and efficiency.
• Prepare and review analytical method validation reports, transfer protocols, and regulatory submission documents.
• Characterize impurities and degradation products in drug substances and finished products.
• Collaborate with formulation development, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams to ensure project timelines are met.

Requirements

• MSc or PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in analytical method development and validation within the pharmaceutical industry.
• Expertise in GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) and relevant regulatory guidelines (e.g., ICH).
• Proficiency with analytical instrumentation software and data analysis tools.
• Strong understanding of drug substance and drug product development processes.
• Excellent documentation skills and attention to detail, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
