Job Description
Senior Architectural Technician
Bring Great Spaces to Life
Are you a technically-minded Architectural Technician who loves seeing ambitious ideas become real buildings?
We’re looking for a Senior Architectural Technician to join our growing team in Farnham and play a key role in delivering some seriously exciting projects across the UK.
From high-end commercial fit-outs and workplace transformations to large-scale commercial-to-residential conversions, you’ll be working on projects where no two days — or buildings — are the same.
Think heritage buildings, listed properties, disused railway arches, landmark commercial spaces and major residential conversions. You’ll be involved from the early feasibility stages right through to construction, helping turn complex buildings into exceptional places to live and work.
The Role
This is a hands-on technical role for someone who enjoys solving problems, getting into the detail and seeing their work make a tangible difference on site.
You’ll take ownership of the technical delivery of projects, working closely with our designers, consultants, contractors and clients to make ambitious designs work in the real world.
What you’ll be doing
Technical Design & Delivery
*
Produce detailed RIBA Stage 3–5 drawing and technical packages, taking projects from concept through to construction.
*
Develop technical specifications and detailed information for major commercial and residential conversion projects.
*
Work across projects ranging from individual spaces to major schemes such as The White Building — a 96-apartment luxury residential conversion.
Heritage & Listed Buildings
*
Get stuck into the unique challenges of working with listed and heritage buildings.
*
Help navigate Listed Building Consent and work alongside heritage consultants and relevant authorities.
*
Develop sensitive solutions for renovations, fenestration, structural alterations and modern interventions — ensuring historic buildings retain their character while meeting contemporary standards.
Project Delivery
*
Support the delivery of turnkey design-and-build projects, from technical design through to completion.
*
Coordinate internal alterations, external refurbishment and building services.
*
Work closely with contractors and consultants to resolve technical challenges and keep projects moving.
Compliance & Technical Excellence
*
Ensure designs comply with current UK Building Regulations, fire safety requirements, CDM 2015 and relevant NHBC warranty standards.
*
Apply your technical knowledge to the realities of refurbishing and repurposing existing buildings.
*
Identify problems early, find practical solutions and maintain a consistently high standard of technical information.
Collaboration
*
Work alongside our interior designers, workplace consultants, project managers and construction teams to bring standout environments to life.
*
Contribute to a genuinely collaborative design process where technical expertise is valued just as much as creativity.
What We’re Looking For
You’ll be someone who combines strong technical ability with curiosity, initiative and a genuine passion for buildings.
Ideally, you’ll have:
*
3–5+ years’ experience in commercial fit-out, workplace, refurbishment or multi-unit residential conversion projects.
*
Strong experience producing technical drawing packages and construction information.
*
Advanced AutoCAD skills — this is essential.
*
Experience with Revit and/or 3D visualisation would be a major advantage.
*
A solid understanding of UK Building Regulations, CDM 2015, fire safety and construction detailing.
*
Experience working with existing buildings and an appreciation of the challenges involved in adaptation, refurbishment and change of use.
*
Experience with heritage or listed buildings would be highly desirable.
*
Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-moving environment.
*
The confidence to collaborate with designers, consultants, contractors and clients — and the practical mindset to get things done.
