Senior Automotive Body Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Automotive Body Design Engineer to lead the structural design and development of vehicle bodies in Bristol . This crucial role involves translating concept designs into production-ready engineering solutions, ensuring structural integrity, safety, and manufacturability. You will work closely with styling, simulation, and manufacturing teams to create innovative and efficient vehicle body structures. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of vehicle body structures, considering factors such as strength, stiffness, weight, and safety.
• Utilize advanced CAD software (e.g., CATIA V5/V6) for detailed design and component creation.
• Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to simulate crash performance, durability, and NVH characteristics.
• Collaborate with styling and aerodynamics teams to ensure design feasibility and integration.
• Work with manufacturing engineers to define assembly processes and ensure design for manufacturability (DFM).
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, providing technical expertise and direction.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in automotive body design and structural engineering.
• Extensive experience with CAD tools for surfacing and solid modeling, and FEA software.
• Deep understanding of automotive crash regulations and safety standards.
• Experience with vehicle lightweighting strategies and advanced materials.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
