Senior Automotive Body Shop Technician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Automotive Body Shop Technician to join their busy repair centre in Bristol . In this role, you will be responsible for restoring damaged vehicles to their pre-accident condition, encompassing structural repairs, panel replacement, and preparation for refinishing. Your expertise will ensure that vehicles are repaired safely, efficiently, and to the highest aesthetic standards, maintaining our client's reputation for quality in the automotive repair sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform structural repairs to vehicle chassis and bodywork using modern straightening and alignment equipment.
• Replace damaged body panels, including doors, fenders, bonnets, and bumpers.
• Carry out skilled metalwork, including welding (MIG, TIG), brazing, and shaping.
• Prepare vehicle surfaces for paint application, including sanding, filling, and priming.
• Accurately interpret repair schematics and manufacturer guidelines.
• Ensure all repairs meet safety regulations and quality control standards.
• Mentor and guide junior technicians within the body shop.

Requirements

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Vehicle Body Repair or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 5 years' experience in a professional automotive body shop environment.
• Proven proficiency in structural repairs, panel beating, and welding techniques.
• Experience with various vehicle makes and models, including modern materials like aluminium and high-strength steel.
• Ability to use and maintain body shop equipment effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality repair work.
