Senior Automotive Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented and innovative Senior Automotive Design Engineer to join their advanced engineering team in Reading . This role is crucial in the conceptualization and development of new vehicle components and systems, driving forward design excellence and technical innovation. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate design requirements into practical, manufacturable solutions, utilizing state-of-the-art CAD software and engineering principles. The ideal candidate is passionate about automotive design and possesses a strong portfolio demonstrating creativity and technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of automotive components and systems from concept through to production.
• Create detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, and engineering documentation using advanced CAD software.
• Conduct design reviews, simulations, and analyses (e.g., FEA, CFD) to validate designs and optimize performance.
• Collaborate closely with manufacturing, CAE, and other engineering disciplines to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability.
• Research and implement new materials, technologies, and design methodologies to enhance vehicle aesthetics and functionality.
• Mentor junior designers and engineers, providing technical guidance and support.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in automotive design engineering or product development.
• Expert proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, NX) and PDM/PLM systems.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, stamping, casting).
• Experience with design analysis tools (FEA, CFD) for stress, thermal, and fluid dynamics.
• Excellent visualization, sketching, and communication skills.
