Senior Automotive Electrical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Automotive Electrical Engineer to join their prestigious automotive manufacturing facility in Sunderland . In this vital role, you will be responsible for the design, development, and integration of complex electrical systems and components within vehicles. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers to ensure the highest standards of performance, reliability, and safety are met. The successful candidate will possess a strong technical background in automotive electrical engineering and a proven ability to manage projects from conception through to production, contributing to the innovation of cutting-edge automotive technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop automotive electrical systems, including wiring harnesses, power distribution, lighting, and sensor integration.
• Create detailed electrical schematics, layouts, and specifications using industry-standard tools (e.g., EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical).
• Collaborate with mechanical and software engineers to ensure seamless integration of electrical components.
• Perform electrical system testing, validation, and troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues.
• Manage supplier relationships and ensure components meet technical requirements and quality standards.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of electrical design processes and standards within the organization.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a closely related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in automotive electrical system design .
• Strong understanding of automotive electrical architectures, standards, and best practices.
• Proficiency in electrical design software and simulation tools.
• Experience with component selection, supplier management, and DFM/DFA for electrical parts.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
