Senior Automotive Electronics Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for an accomplished Senior Automotive Electronics Engineer to join their fully remote, pioneering team based in Glasgow, Scotland . This role is critical for the development of advanced electronic systems that define the performance and capabilities of future vehicles. You will lead the design, integration, and testing of complex electronic hardware, contributing to areas such as powertrain management, infotainment, and vehicle networking. Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop automotive electronic control units (ECUs), including schematic capture and PCB layout oversight.
• Specify and select electronic components, considering factors like performance, reliability, cost, and automotive-grade requirements.
• Perform circuit simulations, analysis, and hardware testing to validate designs and troubleshoot issues.
• Develop and maintain documentation, including design specifications, test procedures, and bill of materials (BOM).
• Collaborate with software engineers to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance of electronic hardware and firmware.
• Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in automotive electronics, including electrification, autonomous driving, and connectivity.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in automotive electronics hardware design and development.
• Strong understanding of analog and digital circuit design principles, microcontrollers, and power electronics.
• Experience with electronic design automation (EDA) tools for schematic capture and PCB layout.
• Knowledge of automotive communication protocols (e.g., CAN, LIN, FlexRay, Automotive Ethernet).
• Familiarity with functional safety (ISO 26262) and cybersecurity principles in automotive applications.
