Senior Automotive Electronics Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Automotive Electronics Engineer to join their pioneering R&D team, operating remotely from Sunderland . This role is critical for developing advanced electronic systems that power the next generation of intelligent vehicles. You will be responsible for the design, integration, and validation of complex electronic modules, working on cutting-edge technologies such as ADAS, electrification, and connected car features. Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop electronic hardware for automotive applications, including PCBs, microcontrollers, and sensors.
• Specify and select electronic components, considering automotive qualification requirements and cost constraints.
• Develop and execute hardware validation plans, including environmental testing and EMC compliance.
• Collaborate with software engineers to ensure seamless integration of hardware and firmware.
• Troubleshoot and debug complex electronic systems, identifying root causes of failures.
• Stay abreast of the latest trends and technologies in automotive electronics, proposing innovative solutions.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in automotive electronics hardware design and development.
• Strong knowledge of schematic capture and PCB layout tools (e.g., Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro).
• Experience with automotive standards such as ISO 26262 (Functional Safety) and AEC-Q qualifications.
• Proficiency in using test and measurement equipment, including oscilloscopes, signal generators, and spectrum analyzers.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
