Senior Automotive Interior Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a talented Senior Automotive Interior Design Engineer to join their innovative design studio in Glasgow . This role is key to shaping the user experience within future vehicles, focusing on the aesthetic, ergonomic, and functional aspects of automotive interiors. You will lead design initiatives, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and ensure that interior designs meet both market trends and technical feasibility. This position offers a hybrid working model, combining collaborative on-site work with remote flexibility, allowing you to contribute to groundbreaking interior designs.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of automotive interior components, including dashboards, seating systems, trim, and lighting.
• Develop concepts and detailed designs that enhance user experience, ergonomics, and aesthetics.
• Collaborate with CMF (Color, Material, Finish) designers to select appropriate materials and finishes for interior surfaces.
• Work closely with engineering teams to ensure designs are manufacturable, cost-effective, and meet safety standards.
• Utilize 3D modeling and visualization tools to present design proposals and concepts.
• Oversee prototype development and testing of interior components, providing feedback for design refinement in Glasgow .

Requirements

• Degree in Industrial Design, Automotive Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in automotive interior design and engineering.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., Alias, CATIA V5/V6) and visualization tools.
• Strong understanding of ergonomics, human factors, and user-centered design principles.
• Experience with interior materials, manufacturing processes, and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent creative vision, communication skills, and ability to manage projects in a hybrid setting.
