Senior Automotive Systems Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly experienced Senior Automotive Systems Engineer to join their leading team in Liverpool . This role is integral to the design, integration, and validation of complex vehicle systems, ensuring they meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements. You will take a leading role in architecting vehicle functionalities, coordinating cross-functional teams, and driving innovation. This is an on-site position for an individual passionate about automotive technology and eager to contribute to the development of advanced vehicle platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and manage vehicle system requirements, ensuring alignment with project objectives and customer needs.
• Develop system architectures, including functional partitioning, interfaces, and integration strategies.
• Lead the integration of various vehicle subsystems (e.g., powertrain, chassis, body electronics, ADAS).
• Oversee system validation and verification activities, ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and regulations.
• Collaborate with software, hardware, and mechanical engineering teams to resolve system-level issues.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the continuous improvement of systems engineering processes.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Extensive experience (8+ years) in automotive systems engineering, with a strong focus on system architecture and integration.
• In-depth knowledge of vehicle dynamics, control systems, and communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet).
• Proven experience with systems engineering methodologies (e.g., Model-Based Systems Engineering - MBSE).
• Familiarity with automotive safety standards (ISO 26262) and cybersecurity principles.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
