Senior Automotive Systems Engineer

About the Role

Our client seeks a highly experienced Senior Automotive Systems Engineer to join their advanced engineering department in Edinburgh . This role involves overseeing the architecture, integration, and validation of complex automotive systems, including powertrain, chassis, and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). You will be pivotal in defining system requirements, ensuring seamless interaction between various components, and driving innovation in vehicle technology. Key Responsibilities

• Define and manage system requirements, architecture, and interfaces for complex automotive systems.
• Oversee the integration of hardware, software, and mechanical components, ensuring system compatibility and performance.
• Develop and execute system-level validation and verification plans.
• Lead troubleshooting efforts for system-level issues, identifying root causes and implementing solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and manufacturing, throughout the product lifecycle.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the technical growth of the systems engineering team.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Extensive experience (7+ years) in automotive systems engineering , with a focus on integration and validation.
• Deep understanding of automotive architectures, communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet), and diagnostic standards (UDS, DoIP).
• Experience with systems engineering tools such as IBM DOORS, Cameo Systems Modeler, or similar.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex projects.
• Proficiency in requirements management, functional safety (ISO 26262), and FMEA.
