Senior Automotive Test Engineer

About the Role

Our client seeks an experienced Senior Automotive Test Engineer to join their advanced engineering facility in Plymouth . This hybrid role allows for both collaborative on-site work and remote flexibility, focusing on the comprehensive testing and validation of automotive components and systems. You will be responsible for designing, executing, and analyzing tests to ensure product quality, performance, and reliability meet stringent industry standards. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mechanical or automotive engineering, with expertise in various testing methodologies and equipment, contributing to the development of innovative and dependable automotive solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop test plans and procedures for automotive components and systems, ensuring alignment with project requirements and validation goals.
• Set up and operate various testing equipment, including dynamometers, environmental chambers, and data acquisition systems.
• Execute tests, collect, and analyze test data, identifying performance issues and areas for improvement.
• Interpret test results, generate comprehensive reports, and communicate findings to engineering teams.
• Collaborate with design engineers to troubleshoot issues and implement design modifications based on test outcomes.
• Mentor junior test engineers and contribute to the continuous improvement of testing methodologies and equipment utilization.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in automotive testing and validation .
• Proficiency with test automation, data acquisition systems, and analysis software.
• Strong understanding of vehicle dynamics, component stress, thermal performance, and environmental testing.
• Experience with problem-solving and root cause analysis of test failures.
• Excellent report writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
