Senior Automotive Test Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Automotive Test Engineer to join their advanced engineering facility in Cambridge . This role is crucial for validating the performance, durability, and safety of automotive components and systems. You will be responsible for developing comprehensive test strategies, designing test procedures, and overseeing the execution of tests in laboratory and vehicle environments. We are looking for a meticulous and results-oriented engineer with a strong understanding of automotive testing methodologies and a commitment to ensuring product quality and reliability through rigorous testing protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement detailed test plans and procedures for automotive components and systems, including electrical, mechanical, and software aspects.
• Design and build specialized test fixtures and equipment as needed.
• Execute a variety of tests, including environmental, durability, performance, and functional tests, in lab and vehicle settings.
• Analyze test data, interpret results, and generate comprehensive test reports with clear conclusions and recommendations.
• Collaborate with design and development teams to identify and resolve issues identified during testing.
• Mentor junior test engineers and contribute to the continuous improvement of testing processes and methodologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience as an Automotive Test Engineer , with a significant portion in a senior capacity.
• Strong knowledge of automotive systems, components, and relevant industry standards.
• Proficiency with data acquisition systems, instrumentation, and testing equipment.
• Experience in test automation and scripting is advantageous.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
