Senior Avionics Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and innovative Senior Avionics Engineer to join their advanced development team in Oxford . This pivotal role involves leading the design, integration, testing, and certification of complex avionics systems for next-generation aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles. You will be instrumental in defining system architecture, developing software and hardware solutions, and ensuring seamless integration with other aircraft systems, driving technological advancements within the aerospace domain. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and integration of complex avionics systems, including flight control, navigation, communication, and sensor systems.
• Define system requirements, architecture, and specifications based on project objectives and customer needs.
• Oversee the development and testing of embedded software and hardware components for avionics applications.
• Ensure avionics systems comply with all relevant aerospace standards, safety regulations, and certification requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, including software, hardware, and systems integration.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership on challenging avionics projects.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Extensive experience (7+ years) in avionics systems engineering , with a proven track record in leading complex projects.
• In-depth knowledge of avionic architectures, communication protocols (e.g., ARINC 429, AFDX), and embedded systems.
• Experience with software development lifecycle, safety-critical systems, and certification processes (e.g., DO-178C, DO-254).
• Proficiency in using simulation tools and testing methodologies for avionics systems.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
