Our client is looking for a seasoned Senior Backend Engineer to join their innovative team, focusing on the design and development of robust microservices . Working from our Edinburgh office and remotely, you'll contribute to architectural decisions, mentor junior engineers, and ensure the quality and maintainability of our codebase. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy scalable, high-performance microservices using modern backend languages and frameworks (e.g., Java, Python, Node.js).
- Build and maintain RESTful APIs and integrate with third-party services.
- Optimize application performance, database queries, and system architecture for scalability and reliability.
- Write clean, well-documented, and thoroughly tested code, participating actively in code reviews.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the team's technical growth and best practices.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience in backend software development .
- Strong experience designing and building distributed systems and microservices architectures .
- Proficiency in at least one modern backend language such as Java, Python, Go, or Node.js.
- Solid understanding of relational and non-relational databases, caching strategies, and message queues.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization technologies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
