Senior Backend Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join their fully remote team, supporting operations that connect with Portsmouth . This role is crucial for designing, developing, and maintaining the robust server-side logic and APIs that power their innovative digital platforms. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, high-performance solutions, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of their backend systems. Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable backend code using languages like Python , Java, or Node.js.
• Develop and manage robust APIs and microservices, ensuring seamless integration with front-end applications and third-party services.
• Optimize application performance, database queries, and overall system architecture for scalability and speed.
• Implement comprehensive unit and integration tests to ensure code quality and system stability.
• Collaborate with front-end developers, product managers, and QA engineers to deliver high-quality features.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems, ensuring smooth operation in production.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in backend software development .
• Strong proficiency in one or more backend programming languages such as Python , Go, Java, or C#.
• Solid experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.
• Deep understanding of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker) is highly preferred.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote setting.
