About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Engineer to join their innovative technology team in Cambridge . You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the server-side logic, databases, and APIs that power their cutting-edge products. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and high-performance backend services and APIs.
- Optimize application performance, database queries, and system architecture for efficiency and reliability.
- Write clean, well-documented, and thoroughly tested code, actively participating in code reviews .
- Collaborate with product managers, frontend engineers, and other stakeholders to define and implement new features.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across the backend stack.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the team's technical growth and best practices.
- Explore and implement new technologies to improve the backend infrastructure and development processes.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience in backend software development .
- Strong proficiency in one or more backend programming languages such as Python, Java, Go, or C#.
- Extensive experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and/or NoSQL databases.
- Solid understanding of microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and distributed systems.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative team.
- Strong communication skills and a passion for building high-quality software.
