Senior Bioinformatician - Genomics

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Bioinformatician with a strong background in Genomics to join their innovative research team based in Southampton . You will be responsible for developing and applying computational tools to analyse large-scale genomic datasets, driving key discoveries in biological research. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain scalable bioinformatic pipelines for analysing genomic data (e.g., WGS, WES, RNA-Seq).
• Perform complex data analysis, statistical interpretation, and biological insights extraction from large datasets.
• Collaborate with wet-lab scientists and researchers to define analytical needs and interpret results.
• Contribute to the development of new analytical methods and software tools for genomic research.
• Mentor junior bioinformaticians and provide technical guidance on data analysis strategies.

Requirements

• Ph.D. or MSc in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in genomic data analysis .
• Strong programming skills in Python or R, and experience with relevant bioinformatics tools and databases.
• Proficiency in statistical analysis and experience with machine learning techniques.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a hybrid research setting in Southampton .
