Senior Bioinformatician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Senior Bioinformatician to join their expanding research team in Oxford . This role will focus on developing and applying computational approaches to analyze large-scale biological datasets, such as genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics data, to drive discovery in fundamental biology and therapeutic development. You will play a key role in designing data analysis strategies, building robust pipelines, and collaborating with experimental scientists to interpret results. Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and optimize bioinformatics pipelines for the analysis of diverse biological data types.
• Perform statistical analysis and develop machine learning models to identify significant biological patterns and generate hypotheses.
• Collaborate with experimental biologists, clinicians, and data scientists to integrate multi-omics data and derive meaningful biological insights.
• Develop and maintain databases and data management strategies for large biological datasets.
• Communicate complex computational findings clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Contribute to the development of new research directions and the preparation of manuscripts for publication.

Requirements

• PhD or MSc in Bioinformatics , Computational Biology, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
• A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in bioinformatics, with a strong focus on analyzing next-generation sequencing data.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and R, and extensive experience with bioinformatics tools and libraries.
• Strong understanding of statistical methods, machine learning algorithms, and data visualization techniques.
• Experience with relational databases and data management best practices.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative research setting in Oxford .
