Job Description
Role: Senior Business Analyst
Location: Nottingham
Working Arrangement: Hybrid
Salary: Up to £49,000
Are you someone who can look at how an organisation operates, spot what isn't working and work out how to make it better?
We're looking for a Strategic Business Architect to join an established public sector organisation, helping shape how it operates, plans for the future and delivers meaningful change.
This isn't a traditional IT architecture role. You'll be looking at the bigger picture, understanding how people, processes, systems and departments work together, identifying gaps and helping the organisation make better decisions about where and how to improve.
You'll work closely with senior leaders, project teams and stakeholders across the business, understanding current ways of working and helping design what the organisation should look like in the future.
A big part of the role will involve business capability mapping, process modelling, gap analysis and operating model design. You'll look at how different departments interact, where processes overlap or cause problems, and what needs to change to make things work more effectively.
You'll also work alongside the Project Management Office (PMO), helping assess proposed changes, identify dependencies and make sure projects support the organisation's wider goals rather than solving problems in isolation.
You'll be responsible for running workshops, gathering requirements, mapping end-to-end processes and producing clear recommendations that senior stakeholders can use to make informed decisions.
There's a strategic planning element too. You'll help translate long-term organisational goals into practical plans, making sure improvements to people, processes, technology and services are realistic and deliver measurable results.
You'll ideally have experience in business architecture, business transformation, organisational design or a similar role where you've been responsible for understanding complex business operations and improving how they work.
Experience with business capability models, value streams, process mapping, operating models and gap analysis would be particularly relevant. You'll also need to be comfortable working with senior stakeholders, challenging existing ways of working and explaining complex information in a straightforward way.
You don't need to come from a particular industry, but experience working across multiple departments in a complex organisation would be valuable. You'll need to be analytical, organised and confident enough to ask difficult questions when something doesn't quite make sense.
If you enjoy understanding how businesses work, bringing people together and helping turn big-picture ideas into practical improvements, this could be a great next step.
If this sounds like something you'd enjoy, please apply now or get in touch to find out more.
We welcome diverse applicants and are dedicated to treating all applicants with dignity and respect, regardless of background.
All applicants are screened by an experienced, human recruiter – not AI
