About the Role

Our client, a leading engineering firm in Wolverhampton , is seeking an experienced Senior Buyer specializing in Capital Equipment . This crucial role involves managing the procurement lifecycle for significant machinery and plant investments, working collaboratively with engineering and operational teams. You will be responsible for strategic sourcing, supplier negotiation, and ensuring the timely delivery of high-value equipment to support operational needs. This hybrid role offers a blend of essential site presence for critical meetings and supplier engagement, alongside flexible remote working to manage your workload effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the sourcing and procurement of capital equipment, including machinery, plant, and associated services.
• Develop and implement effective sourcing strategies to ensure best value and mitigate risks.
• Negotiate terms, pricing, and delivery schedules for high-value capital expenditure projects.
• Manage key supplier relationships, fostering partnerships to ensure performance and innovation.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, project management, and finance teams to align procurement activities with business objectives.
• Oversee the contracting process and ensure compliance with company policies and legal requirements.

Requirements

• Significant experience (5+ years) as a Buyer or Procurement Specialist, with a strong focus on capital equipment procurement.
• Demonstrable success in negotiating complex contracts and managing high-value procurement projects.
• In-depth knowledge of capital equipment markets and supplier landscapes.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience working within a hybrid model, demonstrating effective time management and collaboration.
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or a related field is desirable.
