About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Buyer with expertise in Raw Materials to join their strategic procurement team in Derby . This critical role focuses on sourcing, negotiating, and managing the supply of essential raw materials to meet production demands efficiently and cost-effectively. You will leverage your market knowledge and negotiation skills to secure favorable terms, manage supplier relationships, and mitigate supply chain risks. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the sourcing and procurement of key raw materials, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and security of supply.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers to achieve optimal commercial outcomes.
• Develop and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with key raw material suppliers.
• Monitor market trends, commodity prices, and potential supply chain risks, implementing mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate closely with production, R&D, and quality assurance teams to understand material requirements and specifications.
• Manage supplier performance and conduct regular reviews to ensure adherence to agreements.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a buyer or senior buyer role, specifically with raw materials procurement.
• Proven track record of successful negotiation and contract management.
• In-depth understanding of commodity markets and supply chain dynamics for raw materials.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to forecast material needs.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with ERP systems and procurement software is essential.
