Senior Buyer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a proactive and skilled Senior Buyer to join their established procurement department in Coventry . This role is critical in managing key supplier relationships and driving cost-effective sourcing for a range of direct and indirect materials. You will be responsible for tendering processes, negotiating contracts, and ensuring a consistent supply chain to support manufacturing and operational needs. Key Responsibilities

• Lead sourcing initiatives for specific categories of goods and services, including market analysis and supplier selection.
• Conduct robust negotiations with suppliers to achieve competitive pricing, favourable payment terms, and quality standards.
• Manage and develop relationships with a portfolio of strategic suppliers, ensuring performance and compliance.
• Prepare and present tender documents, including RFQs, RFPs, and ITTs.
• Collaborate with internal departments such as operations, finance, and logistics to understand their procurement needs.
• Monitor market trends and supplier capabilities to identify potential risks and opportunities for cost reduction or supply improvement.

Requirements

• Significant experience in a buyer or senior purchasing role, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial sector.
• Proven track record of successful supplier negotiation and contract management.
• Strong understanding of procurement best practices, including tendering and risk assessment.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and market intelligence.
• Proficiency in using procurement software and ERP systems.
