About the Role
Our client in Newcastle upon Tyne is seeking a highly skilled Senior Buyer to lead strategic sourcing initiatives within their procurement team. This pivotal role involves managing key supplier relationships, negotiating complex contracts, and driving significant cost reductions across various categories of spend. You will be instrumental in shaping procurement strategies, ensuring supply chain resilience, and contributing to the overall profitability of the organisation. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the sourcing and procurement of goods and services across multiple departments, focusing on strategic categories.
- Develop and execute category strategies to achieve cost savings, quality improvements, and supply chain efficiencies.
- Conduct in-depth market analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Lead complex contract negotiations with key suppliers, ensuring optimal terms and conditions.
- Mentor and guide junior members of the procurement team.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their requirements and deliver effective procurement solutions.
Requirements
- Significant experience in a senior buyer or strategic sourcing role.
- Demonstrated success in negotiating high-value contracts and managing complex supplier relationships.
- In-depth knowledge of procurement best practices and supply chain management.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret market data.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- MCIPS qualification or equivalent is highly desirable.
