About the Role

Our client is seeking a strategic and results-driven Senior Buyer to enhance their purchasing operations in Newcastle upon Tyne . This pivotal role involves leading sourcing initiatives, managing complex supplier contracts, and driving significant cost-saving opportunities across various spend categories. You will be instrumental in shaping the procurement strategy, ensuring the company secures high-quality goods and services efficiently. This is an on-site position, fostering strong team collaboration and direct engagement with stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead strategic sourcing projects for key commodities and services, managing the entire procurement lifecycle.
• Develop and execute category strategies to optimize spend and mitigate supply chain risks.
• Conduct in-depth supplier negotiations, establishing favorable terms and long-term partnerships.
• Monitor market dynamics, supplier performance, and cost trends to inform procurement decisions.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and finance teams to align procurement activities with business objectives.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and company procurement policies.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in a Senior Buyer or strategic sourcing role.
• Demonstrated success in negotiating complex contracts and achieving substantial cost savings.
• In-depth knowledge of procurement best practices and supply chain management.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed recommendations.
• Excellent leadership and team collaboration abilities.
• Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., CIPS) are highly desirable.
