About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Senior Buyer to lead critical purchasing activities for their operations based in Brighton . This role demands a strong understanding of market dynamics, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to manage complex supply chains effectively. You will be responsible for sourcing high-value goods and services, developing strategic supplier partnerships, and driving significant cost savings. This is a key position within the procurement team, offering the chance to influence strategic decisions and contribute to the company's competitive advantage through effective purchasing.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the sourcing and procurement process for key strategic commodities and services.
- Negotiate high-value contracts, terms, and conditions with suppliers to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Develop and implement long-term category strategies to ensure supply security and cost competitiveness.
- Manage and mentor junior members of the procurement team.
- Monitor supplier performance and implement robust relationship management strategies.
- Collaborate with internal departments to align procurement activities with business objectives and forecasts.
Requirements
- Extensive experience (5+ years) in a senior buyer or strategic sourcing role.
- Demonstrated success in negotiating complex contracts and managing key supplier accounts.
- Strong understanding of supply chain management, market analysis, and risk mitigation.
- Experience with ERP systems and procurement software.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic planning abilities.
- Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., CIPS) are highly desirable.
