Senior Character Artist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Character Artist to join their creative team in Norwich . You will be responsible for creating high-quality 3D character models, from concept to final implementation, for their exciting new game project. This role requires exceptional artistic skill, a deep understanding of anatomy and form, and proficiency with industry-standard tools. You will collaborate closely with the art director, game designers, and other artists to bring compelling characters to life, contributing significantly to the visual identity and overall appeal of the game, and mentoring junior members of the character art team.

Key Responsibilities

• Create high-fidelity 3D character models, including sculpting, retopology, UV mapping, and texturing.
• Develop realistic and stylized materials and shaders for characters.
• Collaborate with concept artists to interpret and translate 2D designs into 3D assets.
• Work closely with technical artists and riggers to ensure characters are optimized for animation and game engine performance.
• Maintain consistency in character art style and quality across the project.
• Provide guidance and feedback to junior character artists, fostering artistic development.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Character Artist in the game industry or related fields.
• Strong portfolio showcasing exceptional 3D character modeling, sculpting, and texturing skills.
• Proficiency in ZBrush, Maya, Substance Painter, and Photoshop.
• Solid understanding of character anatomy , proportions, and silhouette.
• Experience with game engines such as Unreal Engine or Unity.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and meet project deadlines.
