About the Role
Our client seeks a proactive and technically adept Senior Chemical Engineer to join their established operations in Leeds , specializing in the production of bulk chemicals . This role is integral to maintaining and enhancing the efficiency, reliability, and safety of large-scale chemical manufacturing processes. You will leverage your extensive experience to drive process improvements, manage complex projects, and provide critical technical support to the operations team. The ideal candidate is a seasoned professional committed to operational excellence and innovation in a demanding industrial setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the operational performance and continuous improvement of large-scale bulk chemical production units.
- Troubleshoot and resolve process upsets, ensuring minimal downtime and consistent product quality.
- Lead process optimization initiatives to enhance yield, reduce waste, and improve energy efficiency.
- Manage capital projects related to plant modifications, upgrades, and new equipment installations.
- Develop and implement robust standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and plant operators.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering .
- A minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in the bulk chemicals manufacturing sector.
- Strong understanding of unit operations prevalent in large-scale chemical production (e.g., reactors, distillation columns, heat exchangers).
- Proven track record of successful project management and process optimization.
- In-depth knowledge of plant safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and Permit to Work systems.
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex process data.
