Senior Chemical Engineer - Manufacturing Support

About the Role

Our client is seeking a results-oriented Senior Chemical Engineer to provide critical manufacturing support for their operations in Edinburgh . This role is integral to maintaining and improving the efficiency, reliability, and safety of our chemical production processes. You will work closely with plant operations, maintenance, and quality control teams to resolve technical challenges, implement process improvements, and ensure consistent product quality. The ideal candidate will have a strong practical understanding of chemical manufacturing environments and a commitment to operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical support to manufacturing operations, troubleshooting process deviations and equipment issues.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and lower operating costs.
• Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and batch records.
• Participate in management of change (MOC) reviews for process modifications.
• Support quality control initiatives and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Assist in the training of operators and junior engineers on process operations and safety protocols.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering .
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing or production support role within the chemical industry.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex process issues and implement effective solutions.
• Familiarity with process control systems, data analysis, and statistical process control (SPC).
• Strong knowledge of safety regulations and environmental compliance in a manufacturing setting.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
