Senior Chemical Engineer - Process Development

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Chemical Engineer to join their dedicated process development team in Coventry . This role is crucial for optimizing and scaling up chemical processes from laboratory to pilot and commercial production. You will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting complex chemical engineering projects, ensuring efficiency, safety, and quality. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of chemical engineering principles and a passion for driving innovation in process technology, contributing significantly to our client's reputation as a leader in chemical manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize chemical processes for new and existing products, ensuring scalability and cost-effectiveness.
• Conduct pilot plant trials and scale-up studies, meticulously documenting all operational parameters and results.
• Develop and implement process safety management (PSM) protocols and hazard analyses (HAZOP).
• Collaborate with R&D, production, and engineering teams to ensure seamless technology transfer and process implementation.
• Troubleshoot process deviations, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to maintain optimal performance.
• Prepare detailed engineering reports, process flow diagrams (PFDs), and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).

Requirements

• BEng or MEng in Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in process development, scale-up, or chemical plant operations.
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics , fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and mass transfer principles.
• Experience with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with GMP/GLP environments and regulatory compliance within the chemical industry.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
