Senior Chemical Engineer - Special Projects

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Chemical Engineer to lead challenging special projects within their Stoke-on-Trent operations. This hybrid role requires a proactive and innovative mindset, focusing on the development and implementation of novel chemical processes and technologies. You will be responsible for the technical integrity and successful execution of high-impact projects, from concept through to commissioning. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of complex chemical processes for new product introductions and technology upgrades.
• Conduct detailed process design calculations, simulations, and risk assessments for special projects.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources, ensuring successful project delivery on time and within scope.
• Collaborate effectively with internal teams (R&D, Operations, Maintenance) and external stakeholders (suppliers, contractors).
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to project teams and junior engineers.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues that arise during project execution and plant start-up.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Chemical Engineering .
• 10+ years of progressive experience in chemical process design, development, and project management.
• Demonstrated success in leading and delivering complex, innovative chemical engineering projects.
• Expertise in process simulation software, P&IDs, HAZOP studies, and project management methodologies.
• Strong understanding of process safety principles and regulatory compliance.
• Exceptional problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
